Against the backdrop of the intelligent transformation of power systems, the accuracy and efficiency of power quality monitoring have become critical to industry development. Traditional monitoring equipment suffers from issues such as delayed data acquisition and insufficient analytical capabilities. However, the emergence of high-precision power quality monitoring terminals—featuring dual innovations in hardware architecture and algorithms—has fundamentally transformed this situation.
This terminal employs a high-performance combination of a “dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor plus an Artix-7 architecture FPGA” in its manufacturing and production phase. The FPGA is responsible for high-speed, high-precision data acquisition and real-time computation, enabling it to process multiple power signals simultaneously at a sampling rate of up to 1 MHz, thereby ensuring data integrity and timeliness. Meanwhile, the ARM processor focuses on complex analysis, display, communication, and system management, running power quality analysis algorithms such as harmonic analysis and flicker detection, and achieving precise evaluation of power quality indicators including voltage deviation, frequency fluctuations, and harmonic distortion. This hardware division of labor boosts the terminal’s processing capability by 3 to 5 times compared to conventional devices, with data accuracy reaching within 0.1%.
In terms of features and advantages, this terminal boasts three core highlights: "high precision, high real-time performance, and high compatibility." High precision is reflected in its ability to accurately measure the entire range—from nA-level standby current to conventional voltage and current levels. High real-time performance is demonstrated by a data acquisition and analysis latency of less than 10 milliseconds, enabling timely detection of transient anomalies in power systems. As for high compatibility, the terminal supports multiple communication protocols, including Ethernet, 4G/5G, and RS485, allowing seamless integration into various power monitoring systems.
The application scope covers multiple links in the power system: On the grid side, it is used for power quality monitoring in substations and distribution rooms, enabling timely detection of potential grid hazards and ensuring stable power supply. In the new energy sector, it provides precise power quality assessments for grid integration of photovoltaic and wind power, guaranteeing the reliable connection of new energy sources to the grid. At the industrial user end, it monitors harmonic pollution caused by large-scale equipment on the grid, helping enterprises achieve green electricity consumption. Additionally, it can also be applied in data centers, commercial buildings, and other venues with high demands for power quality, ensuring the safe and stable operation of electrical equipment.
In the future, as power electronics technology continues to advance and the energy internet is further developed, high-precision power quality monitoring terminals will increasingly integrate artificial intelligence algorithms, enabling predictive analysis and autonomous decision-making for power quality issues. For example, machine learning can be used to identify potential patterns of power failures and issue early warnings in advance, providing stronger technological support for the intelligent operation and maintenance of power grids and continuously driving the digital transformation of the power industry.
